The truest essence of Christmas

Saturday, December 20, 2008
This Christmas is not quite extravagant for a lot of families because of the obvious reason – global crisis. Anyway, as for me it’s not about presents. We have to consider that having the family to celebrate it no matter how simple is more important than anything. The company of everybody is something that money can’t buy. That’s why we will only have brunch this Christmas when we normally have dinner which means less expense on the hostess’s part which is good in a way. We don’t have to expect pricey gifts, too as we have to think about other people in the family who are trying to save financially because of the said economic situation. After all, it doesn’t stop us to be merry!

On Numbers and Words

Friday, December 12, 2008

Our 2 bathrooms have at least 5 light bulbs each. It’s funny when our son gets in there and begins counting them. He would say, 2, 5, and 8. They are his favorite numbers. He is going to be two years old at the end of this month and he has learned a lot already. He is definitely thriving. He has at least 50 words learned from either the cartoons he likes to watch or from us in our conversations. We do talk to him like a big person, too. Anyway, speaking of bathroom lighting, we just replaced a dead bulb at our entrance door. It helps a lot.

On moving and settling

Wednesday, December 3, 2008

We’re not moving anytime soon but I know it can be daunting to be in a situation in which you have to pack up stuff that you don’t let movers do for you. I just had a baby when we last moved to our place and it wasn’t the most convenient time. I don’t know how we did it but boy was it too much work for my husband. He had to do all the packing as I still wasn’t at my best after I delivered our boy.

We did hire one of those moving trucks of a moving company recommended to us by a relative, but didn’t have a good experience with them. Anyway, that was almost two years ago. I don’t think I am up for another one yet. Perhaps when the right time comes that we will finally find a place we can settle for forever.

Computer memory on the list

Saturday, November 29, 2008
I’ve been complaining how slow my desktop is performing these days. Besides its being 2-3 year old, I guess an extra computer memory is needed. I have to remember to put that in my wish list for Christmas so Santa will know. Hehehe! Other than that, the mouse pad is all crumpled up because my son keeps grabbing it and does funny things with it. So, the mouse has gone wild as well which drives my hubby bonkers whenever he wants to use it.

Thanksgiving

We had a blast yesterday. It was a good Thanksgiving party with the family. Our son was all over the place, I tell you but he sure had fun playing with his cousins. I was all exhausted after chasing him around trying to keep him out of trouble. Well, it was quite a day and I can’t wait for another one next year. LOL! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

On traveling and town fiesta

Thursday, November 27, 2008
I just finished talking to my family back home. Today is our town’s fiesta celebration and I miss the fun. I am glad there are the internet and the computer. I can keep in touch with them all the time. In fact, I was just watching them on the webcam while they are having lunch. Anyway, last year I was there for a 3-month vacation and I had a blast. I just don’t know when we will be back there again though. I can’t promise as I didn’t have a pleasant experience last year traveling with a baby. I might have to wait until our boy is old enough to express himself because a baby or a toddler’s discomfort on the plane can only mean a problem unless every single passenger on board is understanding enough. Oh well. Got to look up Fenphedra for now — Ciao!

It’s all about food

Saturday, November 22, 2008
It’s quite a challenge to decide on what to make for dinner. It can be confusing sometimes when you aren’t craving for a particular food. It gets monotonous too when you tend to prepare the same menu every week. Well, I sure don’t need a diet pill for now. It seems like I don’t get too hungry during fall or winter as it gets colder. I am used to the humid and hot climate which somehow gives me the appetite and hunger for certain food I miss back home. In fact, I don’t feel like eating a big breakfast most of the mornings. I do make it for my hubby though and eat a little. Most of the time I can’t really finish my plate which is strange. LOL!

Outer Banks

Thursday, November 13, 2008
I am pretty anxious about vacationing early next year. I am actually planning about making few stops along the way as we will be driving by some landmarks. It would be a good opportunity for us to make the most of our vacation not to mention visiting other places besides our main destination. I wish we could also go to the Outer Banks but I guess that’s completely out of our way. We will plan a different time for it perhaps on our next vacations in the future. I can only hope for now that driving for miles won’t be such a hassle especially now that we have a little one with us to travel.

Dinner planning

I will have to do grocery shopping later today. It’s sometimes confusing for me what to get as I end up getting the usual stuff and cooking the usual meals at home. I am tired of it. I just don’t like exploring recipes because I am afraid of not liking the results. Hehehe. I have to watch more Food Network or get recipes online again. I will think of some interesting dinner meals. How I wish I could remember each recipe or ingredients so I don’t have to worry whether or not I got everything I need for cooking. Well, that should give me a motivation to plan a dinner menu.

Finally rented out our condo

Two weeks or so ago, we were pleased to learn from our real estate agent that our condo is finally going to be rented out. An older couple showed interest and actually has moved in the first week of this month. Although, we didn’t get the rent that we targeted to get since it’s a couple of hundreds of bucks lesser than we really wanted we had to accept the fact that rents are also affected by the economic situation of this country.

We had to go for it just so we won’t end up waiting for nothing as we will also be paying the monthly maintenance of that place. We could use the money we get for winter as we will be on vacation like usual. Anyway, I wonder if the hubby got home owner insurance for it. I would guess that also applies with condominium or apartment owners. Don’t you think?
